Emergency transfer?! Or April fools...

This week was fun, and I got a lesson in just how much humor my
leaders have, they are so crazy, but it was fun!

Monday we just relaxed for the most part, and then went to the
escobedos after pday, and had dinner with them, and also did a mogi
lesson with Escobedo Shimai, it was way fun, they are such a great
family! On Sunday they said they want us to come back over before
transfers, I think Escobedo kyodai loves will, because he served in
equator, and he is from chile. He always got excited when I would
mention him in telling a story.

Tuesday we let everyone know about the family history fair through our
phone, and also did some finding, it was tiring to do so much phone
dendo, but we hoped it would bring results, it did bring a couple.
That night we helped out the ward some more, and they were getting
really close to done, but they are definitely going way crazy.

Wednesday we tried to visit some less actives, but we couldn't find
their house, they weren't home, or they didn't want anything to do
with us, which was sad, but that is how it happens. We were able to
find a new investigator as we were doing that though, so it turned out
to be fun. She has a lot of interest in English, and some in the
gospel, so we will be teaching her English and the gospel, hopefully
it will turn out well. We had eikaiwa that night, and it went well
despite the fact we picked a little bit of a hard topic, but we had
fun anyways, we had seventeen people this week, and it was great!

Thursday was SKK, and it was good, we have really been pondering how
we can get the ward going more crazy for dendo all of the time, and we
are getting closer to having that happen. Lots of the members are
getting excited, because the elders are getting investigators to
church. We are  still struggling to find investigators and meet with
them again, and of course get them to come to church, but I think the
more they see our efforts, and the results from them, the more dendo
Fire they will have. After SKK, we did a little bit of finding, mainly
for the family history fair, and then we helped them some more
tonight. The tree was almost finished, and the oxen were practically
done when we were reminded by a member of the time, and headed home
making it just in time.

Friday I was told that I would be transferring to kouchi, emergency
transfer, and that I was leaving tomorrow. The APs came to our
district meeting, so they were the ones who told me what was going to
happen, they were way convincing, and I have to admit I got fooled.
Right after they said my name, I started thinking about all the things
that I would have to do to prepare because of that, otherwise I would
have caught on faster, because they asked if I had any questions, so I
of course asked who my new companion was, and they hadn't thought that
far... So if I had paid attention I would have caught on, but they got
me good. I had some tears come to my eyes, because of course I was sad
to suddenly leave Shimogamo.... Which made the elders feel really bad,
so in a way I got them back. Not intentionally though. Morioka, the
jw, came to the church and wanted to know about family history, since
she couldn't come to the fair tomorrow, so we taught her, but we won't
be doing it again, there is no point when all she wants to do is
convert us. That night we had friends home, and after planning, Lowry
Shimai had her follow up. We decided to prank Barton choro back again,
and so Lowry Shimai answered the phone, using her voice, but then
pretended that she was me and had answered the phone for her, and then
she handed the phone to me, and I said April fools, and he said he
already knew... Or so he thought, he thought when he was talking to me
that he was talking to Lowry Shimai, so we got him good. It was way
funny. So we had a more eventful April fools than Easter this year.

Saturday we had the family history fair, and we were there all day
because one of our investigators said she would come, and she did
come, but in order to be there to talk to her, we had to be there for
forever, it was so tiring, but the fair was amazing and a great
success, and everyone put in so much effort, it turned out way good.
After the fair we watched the women's session of general conference,
and it was way good. I love the focus having been on service, the way
to change people's hearts is to serve them, and we are going to do our
best to do just that.

Sunday was fast Sunday, and there were millions of people out in the
park, all in huge groups eating, and it was cool, the Sakura is out,
and gorgeous, so that is probably why, but it was a little
overwhelming to have all those people there. We ended up finding
closer to our apartment, and it was pretty good, not the best, but
some people would listen, and then tell us they didn't need God, and
wanted to be independent, it was kind of sad. Church was great though,
especially sacrament meeting. Everyone's testimonies were pretty
great, though some of course just wanted to talk. Lowry Shimai and I
have started writing notes to people thanking them for their talks or
testimonies, it helps us to focus better, but it is a challenge to do
it fast enough, because we have to write it in Japanese. We struggle,
but if nothing else we are better focused during sacrament meeting,
and trying to understand the Japanese so it is all good.

I am grateful that I still get to be in Shimogamo, because there is
still more that I feel I need to do here, it is a little mind warping
to have to readjust though, since they took way to long to reveal that
it was all a joke, and my mind was like, ok, I am going, and then I
have to switch back, but it is all good. I love Japan and the people
there, they are so nice, and there is such a need for the gospel. I
love you and miss you, but I am happy, probably because of all the
struggles that a mission brings, not in spite of. I love you and miss
you. Stay safe and keep having fun!

Love, Sister Makin
